Football Intelligence / Player Agencies
Better transfer and career decisions.
An independent, data-informed decision framework for situations in which a player’s next step is difficult to assess. Without an in-house data team.
The starting point
Performance data, market movements, club interests, playing time, development and timing do not produce an automatic answer. When decisions are made under pressure, structure matters more than another list.
Three situations recur. A player has several offers that cannot be compared directly. A contract is running out and the right moment to move is open. Or a development has stalled without it being clear whether position, club or playing time is the cause.
The approach
The question is not how good a player is. It is which next step is right for this player in this situation — and how that can be recognised.
Football Intelligence combines available data, professional context and a transparent scenario logic. The goal is not false precision or a generic ranking. It is a clearly reasoned recommendation for a specific situation.
The difference to a data platform lies in the direction. A platform delivers values from which someone still has to derive a decision. Here the decision is the result — together with the assumptions it rests on and the points that would overturn it.
What is delivered
In the most comprehensive format, the result is a structured dossier on one player, in ten sections: player profile, performance profile, physical profile where licensed, positional benchmark, strengths and development areas, archetype, assessment with findings and recommendation, career scenarios, risks, and method and sources.
Alongside it a reasoned club shortlist, two to three career scenarios with their risks, a written recommendation with concrete next steps, and a joint review call.
Two to three weeks. Every section states how robust its data is — where the basis is thin, it says so.
The basis is the agency’s own data access. Which sources may be used is agreed before the work starts and stated in the dossier.
What is examined
Player profile and development
Performance profile, positional context, strengths, areas of development and the relevant next stage.
Market and club fit
Target markets, matching club profiles, likely role, competitive situation and a realistic outlook on playing time.
Scenarios and risks
Possible career paths, opportunities, uncertainties and the consequences of each option.
Recommendation
A reasoned set of priorities and a clear next action, rather than an uncommented data room.
Formats of collaboration
Which format makes sense depends on how far the decision has already progressed.
Assessment of a specific case
For a question that needs answering at short notice: one player, one offer, one window. The result is a written assessment with context, scenarios and a clear recommendation.
Dossier on a transfer decision
For decisions with a longer lead time and several parties involved. The result is the dossier described above: a structured basis for the decision, with situation, options, assumptions, risks and recommendation.
Support across a transfer window
For recurring questions over a longer period. Ongoing assessment of individual cases without setting each one up from scratch.
Which format fits is settled in the first conversation.
How we work
Source, timing and uncertainty are made visible. A thin data set is not disguised as a strong one. The decision stays with the people who carry it; analysis and technology provide orientation, not a substitute for judgement.
Experience
The method comes from digital project work since 2010: collecting, filtering and weighting unwieldy signals and turning them into a reasoned order of priority — most recently in building a data-driven product concept that does exactly that. The same logic carries a sound assessment of a player.
The grounding in football goes back further: a linguistics master’s thesis on the vocabulary of football reporting during the 2008 European Championship — media logic, the fan perspective and the effect of language in football are familiar from analysis, not from the stands. In 2018 came an interim mandate at Goalplay, a goalkeeper training app: content and social media strategy, campaigns, video production and the steering of external agencies.
Hence the attitude behind this work: take data seriously without losing the context.
Assess a specific case.
The starting point is a real decision and a clearly stated question. Enquiries and cases are treated confidentially; an anonymised outline of the situation is enough for a first conversation.
